About me
Hi everyone! I’m Brynn.
If you’ve made it this far, chances are you’re seeking whole-body, nervous-system-level relief. You want to *finally* unclench your jaw; finally feel your shoulders drop down away from your ears. With somatic trauma treatment, like EMDR, it is possible to hold your past memories while also feeling safe, connected to the present, and free of the physiological responses that are often connected to our trauma.
I know searching for a therapist is rough - every Psychology Today profile (mine included!) reads like a Cheesecake Factory menu of therapy techniques you may or may not understand, and they all start to blur together. I think what’s important here is expressing who I am as a therapist and as a person, because truly trusting the person sitting across from you is what makes therapeutic growth possible.
At this moment, pets, crafts, books, and swimming bring me a lot of joy. In session, I swear, I laugh, I listen intently, and I tell you how I really feel. I encourage you to show up however you need to in order to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Bring your favorite blanket. Bring your coloring book. Bring your dog, or your lunch. You do you!
I’m a therapist because of the challenges I face in my life, not because I’m perfect. I bring my own life experiences to the following specialties, and offer EMDR to those who are interested in going beyond talk therapy. If you: feel like your past trauma and relationship patterns still impact you; are challenging societal expectations that don’t serve you; grew up in a household with substance abuse or dysfunction; are enduring chronic pain/illness/medical trauma; need a sex-work affirming therapist; are shaped by your multicultural experiences; or are in long-term recovery, I could be a great fit for you.
Before I was a Therapist, I was a Cultural Anthropologist. I focused on how people make meaning in their lives and relationships in the aftermath of tragedy, and what fosters resilience. Now, I work with those same questions in the therapy office. I offer the chance to feel witnessed and held as you experience having a different relationship to your past, and feel space open up for you in the present. I believe that sharing our stories is what makes us human. I'd be honored to walk alongside you as you bravely share yours.
The single most important factor in the "success" of therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship. Give me a call for a free 15-minute consultation, where you can ask questions and see if I feel like a good fit. I encourage you to trust your gut on this. I also promise to always show up for you with warmth, humor, and my own imperfect human-ness.
